The Public Wireless Network of the municipality of Kos offers freeinternet access to all, as a pilot project aiming to help familiariasethe general public to - as well as promote the use of - the Internetand wireless technology. It officially began in September of 2008,covering the wider areas of Eleytheria square, the port, the marina,Eparcheio, the hospital, Technical Services, the 2nd Primary School andthe region of Aktaion-ΔΗ.ΡΑ.Σ.
The Public Wireless Network of the municipality of Kos, or in short ''koswireless'', is based on the 802.11b/g (WiFi) protocol.
